These timing signals are generated by the ZSI (Zen Sentiment Indicator) and are the force behind our MTP (Market Timing Portfolio).
These timing signals can be used to trade ETF's (Exchange Traded Funds). One can go so far as to use these signals to manage their IRA.
The first table below highlights using the ZSI-generated signals to buy and sell the major ETF's. Note that dividends (which are paid on ETF's) are not included, nor are the effects of compounding, both of which would increase the returns. The totals row compares timing buys and sells with the ZSI versus buy and hold.
While shorting stocks is not permitted in IRA's, Rydex (www.rydexfunds.com) has several 'bear' funds which track the indicies like an ETF. Their performance is as good if not better than an ETF, and the returns, for the ZSI short periods, are highlighted in the second table below.
